Never without my sun protection!

5 parts of the body that you should never forget to protect

We’re sometimes so excited about getting out into the sun, that even the most dedicated FRESH sunscreen users often forget certain parts of the body. It’s not enough to apply sun protection to the obvious parts (such as back, shoulders, legs and arms). It’s really important to protect the smaller and less visible parts from UV rays as well. Find out here why SPF care matters just as much when it comes to your earlobes, toes and the like.

#1 Ears
The ears are considered to be a high-risk area for aggressive skin cancer, but we still rarely remember to protect them properly with sunscreen. Even if they are partly covered by our hair, they are still exposed to UV rays.

#2 Neck
The neck is where signs of skin ageing first become visible. Naturally, that process is accelerated by harmful UV rays. So you should never forget sun protection in this area, even if we assume that it’s more “protected” than, say, our face.

#3 Hairline and parting
The scalp is an incredibly sensitive part of the body, so it needs adequate protection. When it comes to sun protection, our hair is not enough. Pay particular attention to the hairline and the parting when applying sunscreen. And you can get added protection by wearing a head covering.

#4 Hands
Although we regularly apply hand cream to our hands all year round, this part of the body – and particularly the backs of our hands – are often forgotten when it comes to sun protection. It is now the case that hands are amongst the most common areas affected by skin cancer. Applying sunscreen to hands and the backs of the hands is extremely important, especially since any protection we use disappears quickly because of regular hand washing.

#5 Feet
We automatically apply sun protection all over our legs, but we usually stop before we get to our feet. Some people don’t like the sticky feeling you get when you’re wearing sandals or flip-flops, which is why this part of the body is often left out. However, you should generously apply sun protection to both the upper parts of the feet, as well as your soles and toes. The upper part of the foot is almost always exposed to the sun, while your soles can’t escape the sun’s glare when you’re sunbathing on your stomach – unless, of course, you apply plenty of sunscreen first.

Better safe than sorry: In case of doubt, always apply more sunscreen than less. Because there’s no such thing as “too much” sunscreen.
